FUSION 24 Fashion Show Celebrates Student Designers at Erie 1 BOCES
Students in Erie 1 BOCES’ Fashion Design Technology program took their work to the runway during the FUSION ‘24 Fashion Show: Aurora.
The FUSION Fashion Show, which has been running since 2009, showcased the work of 18 high school fashion students from across Western New York at The Show at Shea’s Seneca in Buffalo. The theme for the March 27 show, Aurora, was developed by students based on how the colors in the sky reflected the ideas of personal change and the feeling of community.
Students exhibiting their work at the fashion show include: Shifa Al-Khulaqi (West Seneca Central School District), Idera Arobadade (West Seneca Central School District), Amaya Blatner (East Aurora Union Free School District), Giavanna Ditto (Frontier Central School District), Riyan Early-Mann (Cleveland Hill Union Free School District), Arianna Fluellen (Iroquois Central School District), Mackenzie Fronczak (Alden Central School District), Tatum Hunt (Williamsville Central School District), Cemari Lynch (Cheektowaga Central School District), Tessa Metz (Clarence Central School District), Olivia Mussett (Amherst Central School District), August Ortiz (Erie 1 BOCES EDGE Academy), Nat Razo (Williamsville Central School District), Bryant Stanley (Williamsville Central School District), Nicholas Tally (Amherst Central School District), Brooklynne TenHagen (Frontier Central School District), Alivia Troncone (Amherst Central School District) and DeMetria Woodard (Amherst Central School District).
The annual show brings together talents from multiple Erie 1 BOCES programs, who support each other to ensure the success of the show. That includes Barbering and Cosmetology program students who prepare participating models for the show, along with Criminal Justice students that assist with security for the evening. The Engineering and Robotics program also assisted student designers in the creation of gears and 3-D printing for their designs.
The two-year Fashion Design Technology program at Erie 1 BOCES’ Harkness Career & Technical Center teaches students how to dress, style and create trends based on design elements and the fashion cycle. Students in the program also develop business plans as a part of their studies, setting them up for future success.
Proceeds from the show will benefit Ten Lives Club as well as the Buffalo Underdogs Rescue. For more information about the student designers, visit https://www.e1b.org/en/k-12-education-programs/fusion-2024.aspx.
